This Forum is to talk about how to Improve Raton's economy. Economic Development is a difficult topic to define. Some only relate it to how much money you make and gross receipts tax, others to growth and wealth,  but it is much more than just money. The American Economic Association defines it as: "Economics can be defined in a few different ways. It’s the study of scarcity, the study of how people use resources and respond to incentives, or the study of decision-making. It often involves topics like wealth and finance, but it’s not all about money. Economics is a broad discipline that helps us understand historical trends, interpret today’s headlines, and make predictions about the coming years." This forum is intended to discuss how to create housing to meet various needs (e.g. affordable, low-income, multi-family, permanent supportive, rentals, shelters for the homeless, and transitional housing for the homeless, those in recovery, and those reentering our community after incarceration). Providing adequate housing is a key factor in developing a local workforce.

If you know of a public event that you have gone to or one that you know is going to happen, this is the place to discuss it with others.
