ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A brand-new studio built for virtual productions is the latest film facility to open in Albuquerque and offers a twist on what movie productions is capable of. “The sets keep going even when the physical [boundaries] is done, we have some sets that are literally miles long we can do from right here on the stage,” said Tim Pipher, owner of ABQ Castle Studios.

“I think it’s going to enrich the possibilities for the creatives who are bringing these projects here,” said Cyndy McCrossen, the Film Liaison for Albuquerque’s Economic Development Department.
The newly opened virtual studio is located in northern Albuquerque and is one of the first of its kind in the state, and will open up new opportunities for producers.
Tim Pipher: “You can customize the set to get it exactly as the production need.”
KRQE News 13: “So you can get a lot of different angles, and a lot of different shots just in the same space.”
Tim Pipher: “Absolutely. You get even more than the real world.”
Pipher opened the Albuquerque location after finding success with his first location in California. He said the studio plans on filming movies, movie scenes, as well as commercials and talk shows. Pipher hopes film producers will be able to create movies for less with his facility.
“Because of our setup, they can shoot what appears to be big-budget productions without having that big budget,” Pipher explained.
The facility also offers other amenities for film staff including in-house props, multiple rooms for actors, several dining areas, and a kitchen. It also has a luxury bus for big-time movie stars. However, it’s the movie set that Pipher hopes attracts movie creators.
