ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Racing around the neighborhood on your shiny bicycle is a rite of passage that, if able, every kiddo should get to experience.
Free Bikes 4 Kidz is all about making that dream come true for the youth of New Mexico.
On Saturday, the nonprofit set up shop in the parking lot outside of the Trek store in northeast Albuquerque hoping to help underserved kids get that first bike.

“We are doing our bike collection event, so we are collecting bikes from our community that we are going to take to our workshop to fix them up and then distribute them to youth-serving organizations,” said nonprofit Executive Director Matt Aranez.
Officials said they will distribute the repaired bicycles once they’re ready, probably next year, as it takes a few months to get all those bikes ready to ride.
