SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation is helping two Santa Fe schools improve their gardens and outdoor learning spaces. Salazar and Chaparral elementary schools were each awarded $10,000 in grant funds to enhance and expand their garden areas.
Salazar Elementary School said it will expand its existing garden which will serve as a living classroom for students to learn about growing fresh produce and sustainability. Chaparral Elementary School plans to use the grant funds for its Cooking with Kids program with a focus on teaching students about gardening and connecting them to nature.
