WILDWOOD, Fla. (WFLA) — A semi-truck took a turn for the “wurst” while transporting sausage and sauce Friday evening on a Florida roadway, just south of I-75.
At 6:20 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said a 47-year-old Minnesota driver suffered a tire failure in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike, overturning into a roadway and spilling its load.
The tire failure caused the man to lose control of the tractor-trailer. FHP said he went into the shoulder, struck a guardrail, and overturned.
When the truck flipped, the components inside spilled on the road, forcing officials to shut down portions of the southbound lanes.
Thankfully, the driver escaped the overturned semi without injuries.
Drivers experienced delays that evening, as the inside lane was the only one open until officials cleared the road at around 3 a.m. on Saturday.
