NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – If you’ve had your SNAP benefits stolen, a deadline is approaching to redeem them.
The Health Care Authority said Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) customers can ask for reimbursement on stolen or skimmed benefits, but they have to do so before September 30, 2024.
Congress passed a law in December of 2022 to protect, and replace, benefits that were stolen via card cloning, skimming, and other means. If you were a victim from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2024, you can apply.
There are a few options for asking for help, you can visit an income support office, call 1-800-283-4465, or report stolen benefits at this link. You can also contact local law enforcement as it is considered fraud.
