Isolated showers are coming to parts of New Mexico later this afternoon. Temperatures across the state are continuing to cool off.
The state will see another day of storms and showers. Later this afternoon and into the early evening isolated storms will be popping up for southern, central, northern, and western New Mexico. The mountains can expect to see the heaviest rainfall. Due to this, the National Weather Service has issues Flood Watches for regions of the Sangre de Cristo and Sacramento Mountains. These Flood Watches include the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon and Ruidoso Burn Scar Areas. Flash flooding is a possibility. These watches will remain in place until the evening of August 27th.
Temperatures across the state are continuing to cool off. Albuquerque saw its first high in the 80’s and Roswell has safely broken their 100+ Degree days streak. Rain continuing through the week will help to ensure these temperatures stay cooling off.
More Monsoon moisture will be funneled into the state beginning tonight. This moisture will be fueling the rain chances over the next couple of days. By the end of the week as backdoor cold front makes its way into the state. This will provide ample amounts of moisture to the eastern and southeastern regions of New Mexico. This front will also cause rain chances to shift slightly further east later in the week.
