George Mondragon, 86 went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2024.

George was born on October 21, 1937, in Trinidad, CO to Max and Laura

(Montoya) Mondragon.

George grew up in the Weston area. He attended Weston and Primero

School. He went to the Navy in 1955, and served for 8 years, during the

Korean War, on the USS Wasp. After returning home he worked at

Pachorek Tire Shop. From there he started working for the CF&I Coal

Mine, Allen Mine. Attended TSJC getting his electrical certification. He

then worked as an electrician at Maxwell Mine and for Basin Resources.

After the Mine closed, he went to work for Duran Oil as a bookkeeper.

Later he worked as a Purchasing Agent for Las Animas County. George

loved farming, working at custom haying for area farmers. He served on

the Primero School Board for 12 years.

George is proceeded in death by his parents and son Joseph George

Mondragon Jr.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Dolores (Rodriguez)

Mondragon in Trinidad CO, Daughter: Laura (Peter) Saint, Grandson:

Pete Saint, Great Grandson Cody Saint, Great Granddaughters Vivian

and Lucy Saint. Sisters Dolores Gutierrez, Francis Hahn, Brother:

Raymond Mondragon, and numerous relatives. Special friend Salvey

Velarde and a host of many dear friends.

A Graveside Service will be held on September 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at

the Tijeras Cemetery, on Hwy 12.

The family has entrusted Mullare Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.
