Woman accused of carjacking local judge pleads not guilty

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman accused of carjacking a Metro court judge earlier this year has pled not guilty to her charges. In May, police said Joshua Dawson and Daniella Sandoval threatened a judge with a BB gun before stealing her car near Candelaria and Louisiana.

Both Dawson and Sandoval had cases in front of that judge in 2023 but there is no indication they targeted her because of it. Police found the car and both suspects at a home near Coors and Central.

Sandoval pled not guilty. Dawson pled no contest. Court records show he was given no jail time but is on probation.
