ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The man who caused a deadly crash that killed a 53-year-old woman and her dog in 2019 will not spend any time behind bars. Jonathan Martinez pled guilty to vehicular homicide and reckless driving in front of Judge Bruce Fox on Thursday.
In 2019, Martinez was speeding and hit a car in northwest Albuquerque killing Judy Jaramillo and her dog. He was originally charged with homicide by DWI but the charge was dismissed because nobody was able to identify the tech who tested his blood alcohol level.
He went to trial on the vehicular homicide charge but the jury couldn’t reach a decision leading to a mistrial. The judge sentenced Martinez to one year of house arrest.
