It is yet another hot afternoon for New Mexico. Spotty showers are coming tonight for the north and west.
The stretch of warm temperatures we saw over the weekend is continuing into this week. southern New Mexico is continuing their stretch of triple digit heat. Into central New Mexico temperatures are staying hot in the upper 90’s but not quite reaching the triple digits.
The high pressure directly over New Mexico is still in place and doesn’t plan on moving until Thursday. In the meantime rain chances across New Mexico will be low. The regions with higher elevation will have the best chance off seeing a spotty storms.
By Thursday the high pressure is moving east towards Texas. This will bring more moisture back into the state an increase rain chances across North, West, and Central New Mexico. The southeast might see a spotty shower but will mostly be staying dry.
While temperatures across New Mexico will cool off when the rain comes on Thursday, the southeast will continue to heat up. Heat advisories could be issued for Chaves county later in the week.
