Albuquerque Fire Rescue ambulance sent to sister city in Ukraine

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A decommissioned ambulance from Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) has finally made its way to Ukraine.

Back in May, the department announced they were donating the rescue truck to sister city Kharkiv, Ukraine. They originally planned to donate it several months before, but the Baltimore Bridge collapse delayed the process.

Those in Ukraine expressed their gratitude for the truck as the country continues to be at war with Russia.

The ambulance took around three months on its journey to Ukraine and was picked up at a port in Germany.

Some issues had to be repaired, but it is now serving as an ambulance for the Ukrainian city.
