​In Loving Memory of Emagene Saracino 

Surrounded by her family, Emagene Saracino entered heaven on April 24th at the young age of 99. She was born in Dawson, NM on January 29, 1926, and graduated from Dawson High School in 1944. After graduating she lived for a short time in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her friend Alice Parker, a cherished time of friendship and fun. Upon returning to Raton, she married Greno Saracino where they built their life-long home and raised their family.

Emagene was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church for over 70 years. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was active in the women’s group, and the children’s bus ministry.

She worked at the Raton Public Schools where she retired in1991. After her retirement she volunteered for the Miners Colfax County Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge player, and she was always ready to grab a coffee with a friend. She loved reading and always kept up on current events. She enjoyed traveling the world, with trips to Mexico, Canada, Germany, Italy, Israel, Egypt, the Panama Canal and many states within the US.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Mary Buttram, her husband Greno Saracino, her siblings Charles Buttram, Jack Buttram, Marion Yob, Mildred Saracino, Barbara Evans, and many close friends.

She is survived by her children Alan Monk (Linda) of Bayfield, Colorado, Marylou Blaisdell (Bob) of Nashua, New Hampshire, Carol Valenzuela (Danny Joe) of Raton, New Mexico and Lynn Saracino (Wyla) of Anaheim, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Ator, Amy Walker, Cami Miller, Carlann Unger, Leah Huff, Michael Saracino, 13 great grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Lorraine Buttram.

The family extends a huge thank you to the excellent care she received from the staff of Miners Long Term Care. Their loving care and attention in her last days were exceptional and most appreciated.

Burial will be private, a memorial for family and friends will be held at the First Baptist Church in Raton on June 14th, 2025, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Miners Hospital Auxiliary in Raton, New Mexico. Funeral Arrangements for Emagene Saracino are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
