ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Old Town hosted a very special birthday Saturday afternoon. A mariachi band even performed Las Mananitas for the city of Albuquerque.
Despite the rain and snow, people were out celebrating the city’s 319th birthday, though the crowds were a little slim. The city was founded in 1706 and named after a town in western Spain.
It didn’t become a part of the United States until January of 1912. Arizona would be added about a month later. In Old Town on Saturday, there was live music, food, and a ceremony honoring the found families of Albuquerque.
