Albuquerque

  • April 18-19 The Show – Albuquerque’s longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12.
  • April 18-20 Albuquerque Isotopes Homestand – The Isotopes take on the El Paso Chihuahuas in a three-game run. Friday at 6:35 p.m., the Isotopes wear specialty “Malmo Oat Milkers” jerseys; Saturday at 6:35 p.m., the Isotopes debut new City Roots gear. Sunday’s game starts at 1:35 p.m. with a pregame Easter candy hunt.
  • April 19 The Great Gatsby Ballet – The New Mexico Ballet Company and the New Mexico Philharmonic are working together for a one-night performance at Popejoy Hall starting at 6 p.m.
  • April 19 Downtown Growers’ Market – Visit Albuquerque’s longest-running farmers’ market for the largest selection of local farmers providing fresh produce, eggs, honey, meats, local goods, hot prepared foods on-site, and handmade art, crafts, and body care products. Every Saturday from April to mid-November, enjoy live music starting at 10 a.m.
  • April 19 Albuquerque’s Birthday Celebration – From 12 to 4 p.m., join the Department of Arts & Culture to celebrate Albuquerque’s 319th birthday with local flair in the heart of the city. Enjoy live performances in Old Town, face painting, shopping, and local food trucks.
  • April 19 Easter Egg Hunt at Cottonwood Mall – This free event is for ages 12 and under and will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your own basket and keep an eye out for the golden eggs with a ticket to win a special prize. There will also be a DJ and face painting.
  • April 19 9th Great New Mexico Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival – From 12 to 6 p.m., browse over 30 local food trucks, enjoy live music that keeps the vibe alive, explore a vibrant arts market, and partake in outdoor games at Balloon Fiesta Park.
  • April 19-20 Expo New Mexico Flea Market – Check out the food, vendors, and live entertainment at New Mexico’s largest open-air market. The market runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $2 for walk-ups and $10 per car for parking.
  • April 21 Mindfulness Monday Forest Therapy Walk – Enhance connection to nature during this guided, slow experience in the Albuquerque Open Space Bosque. The walk will start promptly at 9 a.m. and will last two hours. This event is donation-based, and registration is required.
  • April 23 Make Terrariums at DH Lescombes in Old Town – Join DH Lescombes in Old Town for a night of sand, moss, and succulents. Tickets are $45 each, or 4 tickets for $135.

New Mexico

  • April 19 Easter in the Park – From 9 a.m. to noon in Alamogordo, enjoy a community egg hunt, marketplace vendors, petting zoo, food trucks, bounce house, foam pit, live music, the Easter bunny, and more. Admission is free.
  • April 19 Wildfire Day 2025 – The Los Alamos Fire Department hosts Wildfire Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park. Families can explore LAFD and the Los Alamos Police Department’s emergency equipment and vehicles, participate in a bicycle helmet fitting, and get a close-up look at a Classic Air Medical helicopter.
  • April 19 Spring Craft Fair – From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Gallup, shop for handmade arts and crafts. Vendor space is still available, but limited.
  • April 19 Earth Day Event – Visit the Plaza de Las Cruces for a day of fun, learning, and community to celebrate Earth Day. Enjoy family-friendly activities, educational booths, meet Libby the dog, and more—all focused on sustainability and taking care of our planet. This event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • April 19 25th Annual Eggstravaganza – Hop on over to Rotary Park in Bernalillo for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Join for a day of family fun as kids search for Easter eggs throughout the park, along with prizes and fun jumps. The hunt starts at 10 a.m.
  • April 19 Otero County Farmer’s Market – Check out the only year-round farmers market in the area with many local farmers, crafters, bakers, and more, exclusively from Otero County. This event occurs every Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
  • April 19 Española Valley TODOS UNIDOS Car Show – This car show is free to the public. The event starts at 1 p.m. at the Ohkay Casino & Resort.
  • April 19 City of Clovis East Egg Hunt – Kids of all ages are invited to the annual Easter Egg Hunt starting at 9 a.m. at the Guy Leeder Softball Complex in Clovis.
  • April 20 Organ Mountain Sunday Market – The newest market in town takes place off Highway 70 in Las Cruces. Come check out weekly vendors, food trucks, retailers, and more for themed markets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • April 24-27 NM Taxidermy Convention and Competition – New Mexico Taxidermy Association hosts a convention and competition in Taos. The full schedule of events will be available online.

🔶 New Mexico United prepares for third annual ‘foot golf’ fundraiser tournament – Fusing the world of soccer with golf, New Mexico United is now looking for fans to hit the links next month as part of their biggest fundraiser of the year for a wide range of community projects

🔶 Albuquerque Public Schools release 2025 quality of education, engagement survey – Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) is reaching out to the community for feedback. Families have until April 25 to take part in the annual “Quality of Education and Family Engagement Survey.”

🔶 Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department collecting donations for puppies, kittens – The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is expecting hundreds of orphaned kittens and puppies now and throughout the summer season and is asking for donations.

🔶 ‘Waste of taxpayers’ dollars’: Report calls out City of Albuquerque remodel project – An IG investigation claims that Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller’s Administration’s remodel of part of the old city hall may have been a “waste” of taxpayer dollars, after city crews kept redoing the design.  

🔶 Albuquerque Sign Language Academy making progress on long-awaited new building – An innovative and brand-new school building for the deaf and hard of hearing is now under construction in the North Valley, and it’s a big step closer to opening its doors with a special ceremony on Wednesday. “So happy,” said one student.  

🔶 New Flix Brewhouse location in northeast Albuquerque to open in May – Another Flix Brewhouse movie theater is coming to Albuquerque in the Foothills, and those doors are getting very close to opening. The new Tramway Blvd. location is scheduled to open during the first week of May.

🔶 Albuquerque Reliques: ‘Cruising San Mateo’ stands the test of time – On the corner of San Mateo and Gibson, there’s a 26-foot-high archway donning an old 50s Chevy. It’s been standing since the early 90s, gathering praise and disapproval alike from the people of Albuquerque.

🔶 Copper thieves in Albuquerque target cell phone towers – Copper theft has been a decades-long problem for police, with thieves stealing from construction sites and knocking out city streetlights. Now, Albuquerque police said they’re worried about thieves targeting your phone service. 

🔶 City highlights ordinance requiring cooling systems in Albuquerque rental properties – With temperatures heating up in New Mexico, city leaders are reminding community members about a recently passed ordinance that requires all rental properties in Albuquerque to have functioning cooling systems.

🔶 New Mexico Department of Game and Fish to host Bowhunter Skills Camp – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has an opportunity for those interested in learning the basics of archery and bowhunting. On Saturday, May 17, at Manzano Mountain State Park, the department is hosting its Bowhunter Skills Camp.

🔶 NMDOJ launches website for New Mexicans to report federal program disruptions – The New Mexico Department of Justice has a new webpage up to help people who are affected by federal disruptions coming out of Washington D.C. New Mexicans can fill out a form about disruptions related to Social Security, federal funding freezes, mass layoffs, and other federal-related issues.

🔶 Federal funding cuts have NM Veteran Affairs employees questioning their future – Veterans Affairs employees across the country have been met with confusion over recent federal funding cuts. Many are now questioning their future with the department. On Wednesday, New Mexico Democratic Senator Martin Heinrich sat down with impacted residents who say they have nowhere to go. “I’m just trying to make sense of all this,” said Sen. Heinrich.

🔶 New program helps New Mexico inmates get forklift certification before release – There’s a new way for New Mexico inmates to get prepared to rejoin communities, and the program is gaining popularity. “Having things like this offered to us really is an amazing privilege,” said Daryan Winnings, inmate at the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility’s Women’s Prison in Grants.

🔶 Restaurants frustrated about ongoing construction on major street in Santa Fe – It’s a hot spot for Santa Fe tourists that is in the middle of a major road rebuild. While restaurants say it’s been a headache and has led to a loss of foot traffic, the city said there is light at the end of the tunnel.

🔶 Taos Town Council revising proposed shopping cart ordinance – Facing a shopping cart problem, a northern New Mexico town is looking to clean up the streets with new rules. However, the proposal to do that is now facing some community backlash.

🔶 San Juan County Fire & Rescue puts a pause on burn permits amid drought – San Juan County Fire & Rescue will not issue burn permits until further notice, the organization announced on Wednesday. Along with that, opening burn is currently prohibited in Bloomfield, Kirtland, and unincorporated San Juan County. The decision comes as a red flag warning was posted by the National Weather Service.

🔶 Coronado Historic Site offers pottery making classes – If you want to learn to make pottery, there’s classes being offered at Coronado Historic Site. They cover everything from mixing the clay, to making pots, to painting them.

🔶 Chief Judge named for New Mexico Court of Appeals – The New Mexico Court of Appeals has a new chief judge. Judge Jacqueline Medina will be serving a two-year term. Judge Medina will manage the court’s budget, personnel, and general operations, all while still hearing cases.

🔶 New Mexico awards $100K in grant funding to quantum technology company – The New Mexico Economic Development Department, through its Office of Strategy, Science & Technology, has awarded its first-ever Quantum Award. A total of $100,000 in competitive non-dilutive grant funding will go to Mesa Quantum Systems, Inc.
