Roswell police officer charged with stalking

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A Roswell police officer is facing charges after being accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend. Thomas Troy is accused of showing up at the home of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend’s home and banging on the door. The victim told police that there was a pattern of this happening since they had broken up months before. Troy is facing charges of stalking and disorderly conduct.

He is the second Roswell police officer to be arrested in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, Brandon Speights was arrested after being accused of domestic violence.

Roswell Police Department Chief Lance Bateman sent this statement:

Having to arrest two of our own officers within 24 hours not only frustrates me, but
angers me. These alleged actions by both officers give a black eye to this agency and
the personnel who do the right things on a daily basis. The law affords these officers due
process, but rest assured that administrative action will be swift and just once we complete
this process.
