Shiprock man sentenced to six years in prison for sexually abusing children

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A Shiprock man has been sentenced to just over six years in prison for sexually abusing two children, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Mexico. Roderick Bitsilly, 61, is also subject to 15 years of supervised release upon completing his 75 month sentence.

Bitsilly admitted to engaging in sexual contact with the first Jane Doe, a child under 12, between February and August of 2014. He pled guilty to charges involving a second Jane Doe, also under 12, between September of 2019 and 2020.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Bitsilly is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. He will have to register as a sex offender upon being released from prison. The Gallup Resident Agency of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office investigated this case.
