Popular soup, bowl products may be contaminated; USDA issues public health alert 

(WJW) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a nationwide public health alert warning consumers that some popular soup and bowl products could be contaminated with wood.

According to the health alert, the problem was discovered after cilantro, an ingredient in the products, was recalled for foreign material.

FSIS said the items of concern were shipped to “retail and institutional locations” in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

“FSIS anticipates that other products may be added, which could result in nationwide impacts,” states the health alert.

Consumers who purchased the potentially impacted products are urged not to eat or serve them. Here’s what to look for:
