NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – We all know the state of New Mexico has numerous gorgeous spots. Travel + Leisure recently highlighted each state’s (and the District of Columbia’s) most beautiful spot.
New Mexico was represented on the list by the Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness. The area, three hours from Albuquerque, is the result of millions of years of erosion, resulting in what the publication calls a “sci-fi fantasy-like display of pinnacles, spires, and other weirdly wonderful bodies of weathered rock.”
The De-Na-Zin Wilderness area shares its place on the list with the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the Guadalupe Mountains in Texas, and Arches National Park in Utah.
The Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness area is open year round, with most visits occurring in the late spring/early summer and in the fall. Want to plan a visit? More information on the wilderness area is available on the New Mexico Bureau of Land Management website.
