The search comes after former superintendent Hilario Chavez resigned in February following misconduct allegations. Currently, Dr. Veronica Garcia is serving as the interim superintendent. The board of education expects to have a replacement in place by July.
“With assistance from Carroll Strategies, Santa Fe Public Schools hosted ten public forums to gather input on the qualities the community values in its next superintendent,” the school system said in a press release. “These forums included sessions tailored for specific groups—such as community members, school staff, and district staff. In addition, three dedicated forums were held exclusively for high school students, giving them a meaningful opportunity to share their perspectives.
An online survey was open to the public for two weeks. It received 457 responses. A report is being prepared for the school board that summarizes feedback from both the forums and the survey.
