SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A suspect is in custody in Santa Fe after leading police and sheriff’s deputies on a chase through the city in a U-Haul truck Tuesday morning.
According to Santa Fe Police, a call came in from concerned citizens after they heard someone in the back of a U-Haul truck calling for help. Law enforcement officials say Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Deputies they located the vehicle in El Gancho, by Harry’s Road House and the vehicle fled when they attempted to stop it. They say the driver began driving recklessly and attempted to go head-to-head with a Santa Fe police officer and also tried to strike a Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputy.
Police say the incident came to an end on Cerrillos Rd., near Herrera Dr. and the driver was apprehended. Police found at least two people in the back of the vehicle. No other details have been released.
