ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Just two days after the ICS Mania boxing card had main event fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson pull out, more fighters are following. Five Team Tapia boxers have decided to follow the lead of Jackson and pull out of the fight.
Teresa Tapia said Signature Punch and ICS Promotions did not communicate when or how fighters were to be paid. She also said some fighters did not receive flight or hotel reservation information. Tapia said ICS promoter Gary Lewis failed to obey contractual agreements. “I cannot with a clear conscience allow any of these fighters to get in the ring and fight for free,” said Tapia. A matchmaker for Signature Punch told KRQE Sports by text that, “The fight card is still and on whatever is being said is not their doing.”
Signature Punch also told KRQE that Rashad Evans, who was scheduled to meet Quinton Jackson in the main event, is still on the card and will face former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs. Matthew “Diamond Boy” Griego, who is also on the card, confirmed to KRQE Sports that he and former WBC Interim Light Middleweight Champion Brian Mendoza still planned to fight on the card. ICS Mania is scheduled for The Pit in Albuquerque on Saturday at 6 p.m.
