WalletHub ranks states financial literacy – Where does New Mexico rank? 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – WalletHub released its recent report on the most and least financially literate states. WalletHub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia across 17 different metrics. The metrics range from consumer habits, financial-education programs, share of adults with rainy day funds, share of unbanked households, share of adults borrowing from non-bank lenders and more.

New Mexico ranked in the bottom half of the list, coming in at 39th overall. In individual metrics, New Mexico ranked 48th in financial planning and habits and 36th in financial knowledge and education. To view the full study, click here.
