NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – It’s an exciting discovery, a brand new species of dinosaur, and a New Mexico researcher had a hand in unearthing it. Dr. Anthony Fiorillo, the executive director of the New Mexico Natural History and Science Museum, was part of an international team that made the discovery.
They found the bones of a massive theropod dinosaur in Mongolia. Researchers said this duonychus had large hooked claws and is estimated to have weighed more than 500 pounds. They believe it roamed the Earth 90 million years ago.
