Texico holds on to win boys 2A championship 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The first boys basketball championship of 2025 belongs to Texico High School. The No. 1 Wolverines defeated Mesa Vista 66-65 to take the title.

Texico held a 15-point lead at the end of the third quarter, but Mesa Vista did not go away quietly. The Trojans went on an 11-0 run in the 4th and cut the deficit to one point in the final minute.

After some free throw shooting down the stretch by Texico, the Wolverines had a three-point lead in the final 10 seconds. Mesa Vista had an opportunity to tie with a three, however the Trojans took a two-point shot instead at the buzzer.

Jett Curtis led Texico with 22 points. Alex Fuentes had 18.

The win marks the 6th boys basketball championship for Texico in program history. It is the first since 2016.
