Lobos eliminated in Mountain West tournament with loss to Boise State 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Lobos time in Las Vegas for the Mountain West tournament has come to an end. The team lost its tournament semifinal match against Boise State on Friday night 69-72.

While the Lobos led for nearly 73% of the game, UNM had no answers for Boise State’s offense in the final minutes. The Broncos outscored the Lobos 44-35 in the second half.

The Boise State trio of Tyson Degenhart (22), Emmanuel Ugbo (17) and Andrew Meadow (16) combined for 55 points. As a team, the Broncos combined to shoot 23-54 (44%) from the field.

New Mexico, which led the Mountain West in rebounding during the regular season, lost the rebounding battle 31-38. The Broncos finished the game with 18 second chance points compared to 9 from UNM. Nelly Junior Joseph led the Lobos with 8 total boards.

Donovan Dent led UNM in scoring with 23 points. He also had 5 assists. Other Lobos to reach double-figures in scoring include Junior Joseph (19), Tru Washington (10) and Mustapha Amzil (10).

UNM now awaits the selection show for the NCAA tournament to see what’s in its future. The selection show will air on CBS on Sunday at 4 p.m.
