Highland Hornets fly high into title game 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Highland may be the No. 8 seed of boy’s class 5A, but the Hornets are back to playing at championship caliber. The defending champions are back to the title game for the third time in four years as Highland defeated Albuquerque Academy 66-37 in the semifinals on Thursday.

It was a well rounded performance for the Hornets. Three players scored in double figures and three players recorded at least five rebounds. The team knocked down seven three point shots and also scored 34 points in the paint.

Defensively, Highland held Academy to just 28.3% from the field. The team also racked up nine steals and four blocks.

The boy’s class 4A championship game will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. Highland will play the winner of Artesia and Espanola Valley.
