ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Wednesday’s boys 4A quarterfinal round between Highland and St. Pius X marked the fourth meeting of the season between the two squads. The Sartans won the previous three, but the Hornets got the last laugh.
Highland went on to beat the No. 1 ranked team in the class 59-51.
The Hornets were able to limit Mason Montoya, the district player of the year, to only ten points. He had scored over 20 in each of the team’s previous matchups. Highland was also able to contain St Pius to only 16 points in the paint.
Jesus Licon led the charge with a game-high 35 points. He never checked out of the game. Juan Limas recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

No. 8 Highland will now play in the semi-final game against No. 4 Albuquerque Academy on Thursday. That game will tipoff at 3 p.m.
