ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The boys quarterfinal round of the 2025 state basketball tournament tipped off on Wednesday morning. No. 4 Albuquerque Academy took down Taos 54-43.
The Chargers, one of the biggest teams in class 4A, took advantage of its ability to score in the paint. The Academy duo of Eli Dominguez and Hunter Aime feasted with a combined 38 points. In total, the Chargers doubled the Tiger’s points in the paint, 32-16.
Overall, Academy had a much more efficient morning when it came to shooting. The Chargers shot 51.2% from the field compared to 23.2% from the Tigers.

With the win, Academy has advanced to the semi-final round on Thursday at 3 p.m. The Chargers will play the winner of St. Pius and Highland.
