Girls 4A quarterfinal – Kirtland Central shuts down Hope Christian 

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The top ranked team in girl’s class 4A, Kirtland Central, returned to the Pit to defend its state championship on Tuesday night. The Lady Broncos took on No. 9 Hope Christian with a spot in the semi-finals on the line.

KC was able to jump out to an early lead and slowly build it throughout the game. By the end of the night, Kirtland Central walked off the floor with a 58-18 victory.

Defensively, Kirtland Central limited Hope to just 7-30 shooting for the game. The Broncos forced 34 turnovers which resulted in 31 points. KC also recorded 22 steals. The Huskies only scored more than four points in a quarter once.

With the win, Kirtland Central filled out the final four of the 4A bracket and joins Gallup, Portales and Valencia. The Lady Broncos will play Valencia in the semi-finals on Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
