ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – With high spring-winds across New Mexico, Albuquerque Fire Rescue is reminding residents they cannot burn dead weeds and small piles of vegetation if winds exceed 15 miles per hour. AFR also said the fire must be at least 25 feet away from buildings or combustible materials and people must have something to put out the fire on site, whether that be a hose or fire extinguisher.
If winds do pick up during an already burning fire, crews say to put it out immediately.
