ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the several metro detention center inmates who was mistakenly released last year went in front of a judge for her initial crime.

Las year Desiree Sanchez was arrested for armed robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Court documents say she stabbed a man in the hands while demanding money. Days after her arrest she was accidentally released. Sanchez turned herself back over to authorities a few days after the release. Wednesday morning Sanchez pleaded no contest to the battery charge in exchange for dropping the armed robbery charge. She faces up to three years behind bars. Her sentencing is scheduled to take place in early summer.
