Another windy day and a storm coming later this week 

Strong wind gusts are continuing to pick up across New Mexico this afternoon. Unfortunately, fire risks are picking up with them.

Strong winds and fire risks continue to be the main weather story across New Mexico this afternoon. Luckily, the winds and fire risks are not as severe as they were yesterday. The strongest wind gusts are anticipated to be in the northeast. Clayton has already seen wind gusts exceed 70 mph this afternoon. The National Weather Service has several Wind Advisories and High Winds Warnings in place across New Mexico. These alerts will be in place until 5p.m. Tuesday March 4th. The Red Flag Warning have been significantly decreased today. However, there is still a level of concern for southeastern New Mexico. They have a Red Flag Warning in place until 7 p.m. Tuesday March 4th.

The most recent low pressure system has moved out of New Mexico. A few lingering snow/rain showers will be present in northern New Mexico through the evening. A ridge of high pressure will move over New Mexico tomorrow. This brief system will bring warmer temperatures and clearer skies. Windy will slightly calm down to locally breezy levels.

Another low pressure system will move into New Mexico late this week. The storm will approach the state on Thursday and move over Northern New Mexico by Saturday. This storm is forecasted to bring more widespread snow and rain chances. The precipitation will begin on Thursday for northern New Mexico. Friday and Saturday the precipitation will dip south towards Central New Mexico and the Gila.
