ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man accused of hitting and killing another man with a vehicle pleaded no contest to his charges in court Wednesday.

Gabriel Guerrero was facing murder and tampering with evidence charges after hitting Nathaniel Besel in the parking lot of an apartment complex in May 2024. APD said Besel got into a confrontation with his neighbors when he thought he smelled fentanyl smoke. Two women denied smoking. Besel later said he was jumped by two woman and a man. Ring camera footage later showed Guerrero, who was the boyfriend of one of the women, hit Besel from behind with a silver Honda Accord. Besel died from his injuries.
Guerrero is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
