Sporadic rain & snow, cooler, & windier

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Temperature rollercoasters are set ahead with spring-like temperatures later today in Southwest New Mexico, but because of two cold fronts, everywhere else will be cooler with cooler air starting to arrive with gustier winds in the Northeast Highlands and while everywhere else is mostly relatively mild and dry, seasonably cold air as low as below freezing is starting off from the North Mountains through the Four Corners with light precipitation starting to approach.

Patchy dust in the lowlands with the elevated to critical fire threat will be accompanied with the cooldown with sporadic rain and wet snow activity mostly in the higher terrain later today, but near-record warmth to record high temperatures will once again occur this afternoon, but only for southwestern areas that will reach the 70s and 80s, but most areas from I-40 to the north will range from the 40s to the 60s.

Chilly weather tomorrow will be accompanied by drier conditions with calmer winds, but then temperatures will quickly warm up again again late this week before the next stronger storm system is set to arrive later this weekend, setting the stage for even more moisture with eventually cooler air by next week.
