NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish and Gila National Forrest are working together on a fish habitat restoration project.

The project aims to improve conditions for Gila Trout by deepening pools, reducing stream erosion and planting native vegetation. The project takes places at Whitewater Creek near the Catwalk Recreation Area in Catron County. The Catwalk Recreation Area and trail will remain open during construction.
