ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Adelante has taken on the role of administrator for FundAbility New Mexico, a financial loan program of the New Mexico Technology Assistance Program (NMTAP) and the Governor’s Commission on Disability. The loan program aims to help New Mexicans with disabilities get the adaptive equipment and assistive technology they need.
Through FundAbility, people can get help getting a wide variety of equipment like:
- Wheelchairs and scooters
- Wheelchair ramps
- Hearing and vision aids
- Augmentative communication devices
- Speech tablets or devices
- Adaptive recreational equipment
- Transferring systems
- Computers and adaptive peripherals
The loan process is easy. First, people should apply for the program at FundAbilityNM.org Then, someone will review the application, current budget, loan amount, and assistive device you wish to purchase with the loan. If there is a free resource for the device, the team will let you know.
The team will also run a credit check and then the application is forwarded to the loan committee for approval.
If the committee approves the loan, the application is provided to one of the banks or credit unions that works with FundAbility.
