New Mexico’s U.S. attorney says he is ‘locked out’ of work devices

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – U.S. Attorney for New Mexico Alexander Uballez confirmed that he is one of the Biden-nominated U.S. attorneys who were locked out of their work devices.

Uballez learned he was locked out Friday afternoon. He told KRQE News 13 that he alerted the U.S. Department of Justice but received “no guidance.” The state’s U.S. Attorney’s Office is responsible for prosecuting federal crimes.

Uballez said that he is now working “the old school way” without a computer. As of 2 p.m. Monday, Uballez hasn’t been told he’s out of a job yet, but said he has “never heard of this happening before.”

U.S. attorneys are appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.
