ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Opening statements begin today in the trial of three men accused of opening fire on a truck leaving Isotopes Park in 2023 that left a woman paralyzed and her 11-year-old cousin dead. The statements will be streamed on this page at 2:45 p.m.
Nathan Garley, Daniel Gomez, and Jose Romero are facing charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and shooting from a moving vehicle among others. Police say the trio mistook the truck 11-year-old Froylan Villegas was in with his family on the night of September 6, 2023, believing it to belong to a rival gang member.
Gomez told police it was Nathen Garley who pulled the trigger, saying he even bragged about it after the shooting.
The murder trial for the men is expected to last a week.
