Another upper-level disturbance will move into New Mexico on Tuesday. This disturbance will first increase winds across the state on Monday afternoon. The strongest gusts are forecasted to be in southwestern New Mexico. Blowing dust will be possible. The strong wind gusts will continue through Tuesday evening.
The upper-level disturbance will also send a strong backdoor cold front through eastern and central New Mexico on Tuesday. This cold front will drop temperatures anywhere from 5 to 20 degrees. Temperatures will warm up again by the end of next week.
Finally, the upper-level disturbance will bring precipitation back to the state. Snowfall will begin in southern Colorado on tonight. Tuesday will see more widespread precipitation across New Mexico. Snowfall is anticipated in the mountains and rain is forecasted for the valleys.
