‘I’m Michael Jordan’s son’: Bodycam video shows Marcus Jordan’s arrest in Florida

CHICAGO (WGN) — Bodycam footage shows the moments Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, was arrested near Orlando on DUI and drug charges.

Jordan, 34, was charged with DUI with property damage, possession of cocaine, and resisting an officer after he allegedly fled a traffic stop conducted by another law enforcement agency on Tuesday, Feb. 4. Officers booked Jordan into Orange County jail in Florida.

According to arrest reports, officers found Jordan’s blue Lamborghini SUV damaged and stuck on railroad tracks in Maitland, about 10 miles from Orlando.

In bodycam footage obtained by WGN News, officers approached the disabled vehicle with Jordan and another woman inside just before 1:18 a.m.

Officers instruct Jordan and the female passenger to exit the vehicle as they warn a train is looming. Jordan tries to maneuver the car to no avail, prompting one officer to say, “You can’t go anywhere. You’re buried.”

After some back-and-forth, officers ordered Jordan and the female passenger, whom he later called his girlfriend, to exit the vehicle.

Jordan continues to ask officers for help removing the vehicle from the train tracks, but an officer again denies the request, adding that Jordan would not be allowed behind the wheel.

“Bro, I’m Marcus Jordan; I’m Michael Jordan’s son,” he is heard telling police as an officer approaches to pat him down. “I’m not doing anything wrong. I’m just trying to get home, and I made a wrong turn.”

Minutes later, after Jordan again insists that police can help remove the vehicle from the tracks, an officer conveys that they have concerns about the 34-year-old’s impairment.

“Why?” Jordan asks.

“Because I can smell alcohol coming from you, and you’re on the train tracks,” the officer replied.

An officer later reads Jordan his Miranda Rights. Once away from the tracks, officers conduct a field sobriety test. At around 1:47 a.m., officers handcuffed Jordan under the suspicion of DUI.

About five minutes later, bodycam footage shows Maitfield officers placing Jordan in the back of their patrol car. On the way to the station, Jordan repeatedly denied being under the influence and even sang some tunes.

When Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” played on the radio, Jordan asked, “Could you turn this up? I like this song.” Jordan then recited some of the song’s lyrics before again insisting he had made a wrong turn and wasn’t drunk.

More back-and-forth between Jordan and the officer ensues, with Jordan suggesting that race may have been a factor in the arrest.

“If I was a white [expletive], if I was a CEO at [expletive] Morgan & Morgan…,” says Jordan before the officer cuts him off.

“I’d arrest you too,” the officer replies.

“You wouldn’t have done [expletive]. You wouldn’t have done [expletive],” Jordan responds.

Maitland Police Department officers allege Jordan had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and smelled of alcohol. Officers allegedly located a bag with a white, powdery substance, which police suspect contained cocaine, on Jordan as well.

Jordan is the second eldest son of NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy. He is currently the founder and CEO of Trophy Room, which sells Jordan brand gym shoes and streetwear.

Jordan graduated from Whitney Young High School and played college basketball at the University of Central Florida near Maitland.
