NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The state of New Mexico is receiving millions of dollars from the federal government to fund efforts to combat homelessness. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a total of $17,137,326 to projects throughout the state that provide housing assistance and supportive services to unhoused members of the community.

The funds will go toward prevention, rapid rehousing, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing. The federal funding will also support youth and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The department awarded a total of nearly $3.6 billion to address homelessness nationwide.
