After snow moved through parts of New Mexico Monday, drier weather will return tonight. A slow warming trend starts Tuesday that will bring highs back above average by the end of the week.
It’s been a chilly afternoon across New Mexico as snow continues to fall in northern and west-central parts of the Monday evening. This snow will continue to come to an end as drier weather moves in tonight. Another isolated, but light snow shower will be possible in the Albuquerque Metro later tonight, with little to no accumulation expected. Skies will be clearing across the state, bringing in very cold temperatures to start the day Tuesday.
A slow and gradual warming trend starts Tuesday afternoon and will continue through Friday. Our weather will be sunny, calm, and dry through Friday s well, with highs climbing back above average Friday afternoon. Winds will pick up Friday afternoon though, with westerly wind gusts as high as 45 mph.
A storm system will start moving into the region on Saturday. It will first start bringing in snow to southern Colorado and northern New Mexico Saturday. A strong cold front will move south across the state Saturday into Sunday, bringing snow along with in for areas along and east of the central mountain chain. Snow could fall as far south as Roswell early Sunday morning. Snow will stick around through Monday with another blast of Arctic air. The heaviest snow will stay in northern and eastern New Mexico Saturday through Monday where up to 5″ of snow is possible. Temperatures will again not climb above freezing for most of New Mexico next Monday.
