ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – There’s a lot that can go wrong when you take a flight. From mishandled or lost luggage to long lines at TSA. Turbulence during air travel is one of the many things you can’t control when you decide to fly. A new study from Turbli looked at the most turbulent flight routes in the United States.
Coming in at number one is the Albuquerque-Denver route. In fact, Denver and a lot of other flight routes in the western half of the United States made up the top 10. The routes between Jackson and Denver, Salt Lake City and Denver, and Bozeman and Denver were the second, fourth, and fifth-place routes, respectively.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s website, turbulence can be created by various conditions like atmospheric pressure, jet streams, air around mountains, cold or warm weather fronts, or thunderstorms.
The same study named the Albuquerque Sunport as the third most turbulent airport. Denver’s and Bozeman’s airports came in first and second.
