FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — While many of us were staying cozy indoors, a West Virginia father-son duo was hard at work making the best of this week’s wintery weather by building a one-of-a-kind igloo.

Fairmont residents Rowdy Dorman and Damon Dorman said they began working on their creation last week, but as more and more snow started piling up, they continued to add to the structure in the last few days.

“We kinda just got bored with it,” son Rowdy told 12 News in Fairmont. “So we just grabbed some spray paint and Dad started spray painting it. He kinda thought it looked like a dragon.”

The pair used an ice cooler to pack snow and form blocks to build the igloo. To give it some extra flair they began adding icicles to the top, which they gathered from nearby houses and even “robbed’ a nearby bank of some of its hanging ice as well.

Inside the igloo is a small chair and even a miniature fire to help beat the cold.

Their build has gained significant traction on TikTok, garnering more than 300,000 views and nearly 50,000 likes in under 24 hours.

Rowdy said they try to build an igloo at least once a year, assuming Fairmont sees enough snowfall to make it possible. If he were to build another one in the future, Rowdy said he would like to build an igloo in the shape of a deer, as both he and his dad are avid hunters.
