TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KRQE) – Interstate 40 East is closed in Tucumcari Thursday night due to traffic backup caused by a crash near San Jon and the Texas state line.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation said travel is discouraged on all alternate routes due to inclement weather. Lengthy delays are expected, officials added.
