ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – There is a familiar name coming to the Lobo women’s basketball team. In the Lobos first addition of the offseason, the team announced the commitment of Jessie Joaquim.
Jessie is the younger sister of Hulda, who recently graduated. Jessie comes to New Mexico as a junior college transfer after two years at Cochise College.
With the Apaches, the 6-2 forward averaged 6.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Her biggest impact was on defense, as she was named the ACCAC co-defensive player of the year.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jessie to our program,” said UNM head coach Mike Bradbury. “At 6-2, she brings a strong presence in the post with her athleticism, defensive instincts, and ability to control the glass. She runs the floor extremely well, scores efficiently around the basket, and has the touch to extend her range out to 15 feet.”
