ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – There is a new name in the NMAA softball record book. On Tuesday, Rio Rancho senior Aleah Alvarado recorded four home runs, which tied the state record.
During the Rams’ 19-11 road win against Volcano Vista, Alvarado went 5-6 at the plate and also racked up nine RBIs. Her four-homerun performance tied Sarai Morales (Roswell, 2023) and Jaelynn Vialpando (Atrisco Heritage, 2017) for the most in state history.
Currently, Rio Rancho has a 15-7 overall record and 6-1 in district. The Rams are tied with Cibola for the class 5A District 1 lead.
