After a blast of winter for parts of New Mexico this weekend, warmer weather will return this week. Spotty showers and thunderstorms will be possible in northern and far eastern New Mexico.
It’s been a much warmer afternoon across New Mexico with temperatures 10° to nearly 30° warmer compared to Saturday. Highs are still slightly cooler than average after some much needed moisture moved into the state on Saturday. Low temperatures tonight won’t be quite as cold as we woke up today, with lows staying above freezing around Albuquerque.
Warmer weather will continue to move in Monday afternoon as high temperatures will climb above average again for this time of year. Southwesterly winds will get a little gusty in northeast New Mexico Monday afternoon where a Fire Weather Watch goes into effect.
Starting Tuesday, moisture will work its way up into eastern New Mexico. This will bring a chance for a couple spotty rain showers and thunderstorms out near the Texas state line. This will be the story each afternoon into the end of next week. A few spotty showers will also be possible in northern New Mexico, and especially the northern mountains, starting Wednesday. Better chances for rain and thunderstorms will move into New Mexico next Saturday. Temperatures will stay above average all week long.
