Carlsbad man arrested for breaking into cop car 

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – A Carlsbad man is facing charges after police say he stole one of their vehicles with a rifle inside. According to Carlsbad police, one of their vehicles was broken into early Friday morning.

Police say an AR-15 rifle, a taser, and body armor were stolen along with the vehicle. Police were able to find the suspect, who they identify as 24-year-old Cody Boyd, at a home on the city’s south side.

According to police, the gun, taser, and body armor were found in the home after Boyd was arrested. He was booked into the Eddy County Detention Center and is facing several charges, including being a felon in possession of a gun, aggravated burglary, possession of stolen property, and larceny of a firearm.
